Why Guang’an
Guang'an is a prefecture-level city situated in eastern Sichuan Province, positioned along the edge of the Sichuan Basin between the central hills and eastern gorges. Known as the Gateway to Eastern Sichuan, the city occupies a strategic location adjacent to Chongqing. It is the only Sichuan Chongqing Cooperation Demonstration Zone in the province and is incorporated into Chongqing's one-hour economic circle. The city is broadly recognized as the birthplace of former Chinese paramount leader Deng Xiaoping.
The municipal territory spans 6,344 square kilometers with elevation rising from west to east, ranging between 185 and 1,704 meters above sea level. The geography shifts from relatively flat land in the west to hilly terrain in the center and mountains in the eastern sector. Two major rivers run through the region: the Qu River passes through the central area, while the Jialing River flows across the western part.
Guang'an features a temperate monsoon climate with mild winters, hot summers, and high year-round humidity averaging around 75 percent. Average annual temperatures range from 16°C to 18°C, with January averages at 6°C and July averages reaching 28°C. Annual precipitation measures between 1,000 and 1,500 millimeters, supported by a frost-free period of 310 to 324 days. Rainfall is lighter during winter and spring, followed by heavy summer downpours and persistent light rain with gentle winds throughout autumn.
For visitors, the city's central cultural highlight is the former residence museum and birthplace of Deng Xiaoping, situated in Paifang village within Xiexing town. In addition to its historical points of interest, Guang'an offers natural scenery across its eastern mountains and river gorges, many of which are designated as public parks.
The region's economy relies heavily on abundant mineral resources and fertile agricultural land, alongside integration with western China's automotive industry network. Transportation access to the city includes China National Highway 212, a major north-south roadway, while local infrastructure developments include an urban monorail system.
