Why Yueqing

Yueqing is a coastal county-level city administered by the prefecture-level city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province, situated along the shores of the East China Sea beside Yueqing Bay in eastern China. The destination encompasses a diverse physical landscape ranging from maritime shorelines to prominent inland elevations, with a substantial portion of the Yandang Mountains occupying the northern region of its territory.

The history of local administration in Yueqing extends back to 374 AD during the Jin dynasty, when county divisions were first set up in the district. Originally designated as Lecheng, the settlement received the name Yueqing in 908 AD under the Later Liang dynasty to adhere to a naming taboo. Throughout subsequent historical periods—including the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, as well as the Republican era—the territory experienced numerous administrative reorganizations before officially achieving county-level city status under Wenzhou's jurisdiction in 1993.

A major destination for visitors is the Yandang Mountain area in the north, widely noted as a national 5A-class tourist site and a recognized World Geological Park. Historically celebrated as one of China's top ten famous mountains, the range is renowned for its scenic geological features. Within the city itself, urban enhancements since 2000 have added public recreational facilities, including Central Park and Qinghe Park situated southeast of the city center near the industrial zones. These parks offer designated cycling routes along municipal canals, alongside accessible sports complexes such as the Yueqing Sports Centre Stadium, which features a 15,049-seat football venue.

Yueqing is also a major industrial center with a prominent market economy. Its southern town of Liushi, along with neighboring areas such as Hongqiao, serves as a global manufacturing hub for low-voltage electrical equipment, circuit breakers, and industrial components. Transport to and throughout the city is supported by the G15 Shenyang–Haikou Expressway, the Oujiang Beikou Bridge, and the Ningbo–Taizhou–Wenzhou high-speed railway line, which operates through Yueqing railway station and Yueqing East railway station.
