Ninoy Aquino International Airport sits between Pasay and Parañaque, located seven kilometers south of Manila proper and southwest of Makati. As the primary gateway to the Philippines, the airport serves Metro Manila and handles over 50 million passengers annually. Operating well above its designed capacity of 35 million, the airport is undergoing private rehabilitation to relieve air traffic and flight delays.

The airport serves as a hub for Philippine Airlines and subsidiary PAL Express, and acts as a main base for Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia. Operations across its four passenger terminals undergo continuous rationalization programs designed to divide domestic and international traffic, improve retail and food options, and maximize airport slot efficiency.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at MNL

If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.

  1. Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
  2. File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
  3. Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
  4. Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
  5. If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.

Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
