Haltom City is an inner suburb situated in Tarrant County, Texas. Positioned within the Mid-Cities area of the broader Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, it serves as a fully urbanized community located roughly six miles from downtown Fort Worth and 30 miles from the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The municipality covers a total area of 12.4 square miles, almost all of which is land, with just a fraction of a square mile consisting of water.
Bounded nearly entirely by the adjacent communities of Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, Watauga, and Richland Hills, Haltom City occupies a central position within its county. The city operates under a council-manager form of government established by a home rule charter adopted in 1955. Municipal services provided by the local government include public safety, public works, sanitation, administrative operations, and public utility management for water distribution, wastewater collection, and drainage.
Visitors and residents in the community have access to various local amenities, including ten public parks, a recreation center, and the Haltom City Public Library, which operates in partnership with the Fort Worth Public Library. Educational facilities within the area are administered by several local entities, including the Birdville Independent School District, Fort Worth Independent School District, and Keller Independent School District. Primary thoroughfares serving the municipality include Highway 26, Highway 377, State Highway 121, State Highway 183, and Interstate 820. For air travel, the city is situated approximately 20 miles from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
