Welcome to The Helix Bridge, officially named The Helix and formerly known as the Double Helix Bridge. Spanning the Marina Bay area in Singapore, this impressive pedestrian structure directly links Marina Centre with Marina South. Engineered by an international team including Cox Architecture, Arup, and Architects 61, the Land Transport Authority claimed it as a world first in architectural and engineering bridge design.

Constructed from roughly 650 tonnes of Duplex Stainless Steel, its striking, intentional left-handed DNA-like structure even earned a spot in The Left Handed DNA Hall of Fame in 2010. As you stroll along the walkway, fritted-glass and perforated steel mesh canopies provide welcome shade. Be sure to step onto the four strategically placed viewing platforms, which offer fantastic vantage points of the Singapore skyline and events happening within Marina Bay.

Visiting at night unveils a special visual experience as a series of lights illuminates the double-helix design. Look closely for pairs of colored letters—c, g, a, and t—lit up in red and green to represent the four bases of DNA: cytosine, guanine, adenine, and thymine. You might even recognize the bridge from its appearances in the HBO series Westworld or the Singapore Speedway course in Mario Kart.
