Jurong Bird Park 🇸🇬

Opened in 1971 on Jurong Hill, Jurong Bird Park was once Asia's largest bird park, spanning 49 acres in western Singapore. Though the park officially closed on January 3, 2023, to move its operations to Bird Paradise at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, it remains an iconic part of Singapore's wildlife history. Created so you could escape urban life and relax in nature, this world-famous aviary once housed 5,000 birds from 400 species, including the highest percentage of threatened bird species of any zoo worldwide.

During your historical look at the site, you will discover legendary exhibits like the 35-meter-tall Waterfall Aviary—one of the world's tallest artificial waterfalls—and the climate-controlled Penguin Coast housed inside a Portuguese galleon facade. You can also explore African Treetops with its elevated suspension bridge, view the world's largest hornbill collection, and see pelicans at Pelican Cove, the world's first underwater pelican viewing gallery. Shows like the High Flyers Show featured Amigo, a yellow-naped amazon capable of singing in three languages.

As potential redevelopment plans shape the Jurong site, memorable features like its famous waterfall are expected to be retained for future generations.
