Located in Vienna's Landstraße district on the south-eastern edge of the historic centre, the Belvedere is a world-renowned historic palace complex and art museum. Designed principally by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt in the early eighteenth century as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, this World Heritage Site features two grand Baroque palaces—the Upper and Lower Belvedere—alongside the Orangery, Palace Stables, and formal Baroque gardens.

Today, it stands as one of Austria's premier cultural institutions, presenting Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present alongside international masterworks. When you visit, you will explore three distinct venues: the Upper Belvedere, which houses the permanent collection; the Lower Belvedere and Orangery, utilized for special exhibitions; and Belvedere 21, dedicated to contemporary art, film, and music.

Inside the Upper Belvedere's permanent display, 'Picture this!', you can view around eight hundred years of art history, including an incredible collection of works by Gustav Klimt, featuring his iconic masterpiece, 'The Kiss'. Outside, you can wander three terraced French-style gardens designed by Dominique Girard, offering historic fountains, sculptures, and sweeping views across Vienna.
