Located on the southern outskirts of Sana'a, south of Al Sabeen Maternal Hospital, Al-Saleh Mosque (also known as The People's Mosque or Jami ash-Shaab) is the largest mosque in Yemen. Inaugurated in November 2008, this impressive modern structure spans 27,300 square meters and can accommodate up to 44,000 worshippers across its central hall and dedicated prayer spaces. Open to non-Muslims, the complex welcomes tourists while promoting moderate Islam.
As you visit, you will witness a striking architectural fusion of Himyarite, traditional Yemeni, and Islamic styles built from black basalt alongside red, white, and black limestone. Look up to admire its wooden roofs, immense intricate chandeliers, and seven ornate domes—including a massive central dome rising nearly 40 meters above the roof. The exterior features six tall minarets reaching up to 160 meters, 15 massive engraved copper-patterned wooden doors, and colorful local stained-glass windows known as qamariyah.
Surrounding the mosque are green courtyards and sprawling gardens within Al-Sabeen Square, providing a memorable architectural experience.

Keep in mind that non-Muslim visitors are welcome to explore the mosque, and women pray in an enclosed area separate from the main central hall.
