If you want to experience life in 1819, visit Constitution Hall Park (also known as Alabama Constitution Village) in Huntsville, United States. This open-air museum was rediscovered during an archaeological dig in the 1970s and added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on October 31, 1975. It stands as an important historical destination where forty-four delegates gathered in a vacant cabinet shop on July 5, 1819, to form the Constitutional convention that inaugurated Alabama as the twenty-second state.
Today, you can explore a recreated site featuring four buildings restored on their original foundations: Constitution Hall, the Clay building, the Boardman Complex, and the Neal House. As you walk through the park, you will see a fascinating variety of historic setups, including a blacksmith's shop, library, law office, print shop, land surveyor's office, post office, cabinetmaker's shop, and a residence. Part of the Earlyworks Museums alongside the EarlyWorks Children's Museum, the site offers a window into early American living.
You can also catch dynamic yearly events hosted here, ranging from Cask & Cork Bourbon Tasting and Death at the Park to Lantern Tours, Homeschool Days, and special public tours.
