Located just north of downtown Colorado Springs along the south side of Colorado College, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College offers a rich cultural experience set against views of Pikes Peak and Monument Valley Park. As the nation's first combined art museum, art school, and performing arts venue, this historic site sits in a revolutionary 1936 modern concrete building designed by architect John Gaw Meem. The striking structure blends Pueblo-inspired styling, Art Deco details, and Southwestern regional elements.
Inside, you can explore diverse gallery spaces showcasing an outstanding permanent collection of Southwest, Native American, Latin American, and Hispanic American art. Highlights include Dale Chihuly chandeliers and works by renowned figures such as Georgia O'Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, Richard Diebenkorn, Walt Kuhn, and Ansel Adams. Beyond the visual arts, the venue houses a 400-seat theater home to live comedies, dramas, and musicals produced by its resident theatre company, exterior murals by Boardman Robinson and Frank Mechau, and creative community education at the Bemis School of Art.
