Located within Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo is one of Dublin's most popular attractions, drawing over one million visitors each year. Established in 1830 and opened in 1831, this historic facility covers over 28 hectares (69 acres). Today, the zoo focuses on conservation projects, breeding programmes, and growing awareness for animals, housing around 400 animals across 100 species.
As you explore the expansive grounds, you can discover a wide variety of themed habitats. Take a stroll along the Kaziranga Forest Trail to view Asian elephants enjoying their waterfall and pools, or head to the African Savanna to spot species like giraffes, zebras, ostriches, scimitar-horned oryx, and southern white rhinos. You can also visit the Gorilla Rainforest, witness snow leopards in the Himalayan Hills, explore Zoorassic World's reptiles, or admire primates inhabiting man-made islands in a natural lake at the World of Primates.
With its rich history and commitment to wildlife conservation, Dublin Zoo offers an engaging experience for animal lovers of all ages.
