When you visit Accra, you cannot miss the striking Ghana National Mosque, located at Kanda (Kawukudi). Serving as the country's national mosque since 2021, this massive Islamic complex rests on a 17-hectare site and accommodates up to 15,000 worshipers, making it the second largest mosque in West Africa. Funded by the Turkish Hudai Foundation with support from the Turkish Government, the US$10 million structure is designed in an impressive Ottoman Revival style as a replica of the Blue Mosque.

As you approach, you will admire its Carrara marble exterior fittings, cascading domes, and four signature 65-meter-high minarets that can be seen from many parts of Accra. Inside, you can explore upper levels dominated by blue paints, stained glass windows with designs, and hand-drawn calligraphic verses of the Qur'an. You will see carpeted floors alongside a detailed mihrab made from sculptured marbles, complete with a stalactite niche and double inscriptive panel.

Beyond prayer spaces, the sprawling grounds include an office complex, an imam's residence, library, school, dormitories, workers and guests residences, and a fitted clinic with laboratories and a pharmacy, offering you a unique look at Ghana's premier Islamic hub.
