Why Guiping
Guiping is a county-level city situated in the eastern region of Guangxi, China, operating under the local administration of Guigang City. The settlement occupies a distinct geographical position where the Qian and Yu rivers meet. These two waterways serve as the primary northern and southern tributaries of the broader Xi River system.
The area possesses a notable historical background reflected in its changing nomenclature over time. Historically, the locality was referred to as Xunzhou. During the mid-nineteenth century, specifically from 1855 to 1861, it functioned as the capital city for the insurgent state known as Da Cheng, during which time it was designated by the name Xiujing.
Weather in Guiping is categorized as a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate. The area experiences brief, mild winters that begin dry before becoming cloudier and progressively damp. Spring remains predominantly overcast with frequent rainfall, whereas summer brings long, hot, and humid conditions; despite the precipitation, summer is the sunniest period of the year. Autumn provides clear, sunny, and dry conditions. Temperatures average 12.5 °C (54.5 °F) in January and reach 28.6 °C (83.5 °F) in July, yielding an overall annual mean temperature of 21.58 °C (70.8 °F).

The territory receives approximately 1,735 millimeters (68 inches) of annual rainfall, with nearly forty-six percent falling during the plum rains between May and July, a period that frequently presents flood hazards. Bright sunshine totals 1,596 hours annually, with monthly sunshine coverage ranging from thirteen percent in March to fifty-three percent in September.
