Habima Theatre 🇮🇱

Welcome to Habima Theatre, the historic national theatre of Israel located in Habima Square at the center of Tel Aviv. Originally founded in 1912 in Białystok as an amateur troupe, Habima overcame early bans, Soviet political opposition, and international relocation to emerge as one of the first Hebrew language theatres.

After operating under the Moscow Art Theatre, touring internationally across Europe and the United States, and arriving in Mandate Palestine in 1928, the troupe permanently settled in Tel Aviv in 1931. Today, this renowned complex employs 80 actors and 120 staff members inside a building redesigned by architect Ram Karmi following massive renovations finished in 2012.

When you visit, you can explore a grand cultural hub featuring four distinct auditoriums, each boasting a unique size and color palette: the blue Rovina auditorium seating 930 people, the lavender Meskin seating 320, the green Bertonov seating 220, and the wood-panelled Habima 4 seating 170. Complete with 500 square meters of added floor space and three rehearsal rooms, Habima Theatre offers a captivating connection to the rich history, perseverance, and artistic spirit of Israel’s national stage.
