This Grade A listed building began its life as a modest country farmhouse, owned by the Foxall family between 1810 and 1820. Over time, it underwent a dramatic transformation into the majestic castle you see today.

In 1836, architect George Papworth was commissioned to expand the structure, adding four impressive towers, outbuildings, and striking Tudor-style windows. These grand additions were designed to resemble Gosford Castle in nearby Markethill, giving Killeavy Castle its distinct and elegant appearance. Following the Foxall era, the castle passed into the hands of the Bell family by 1881, remaining under their stewardship for generations until the death of Maureen Bell in 2000.

Since then, this historic estate has entered an exciting new chapter. After being sold at auction for £1.19 million, plans were announced in 2013 to carefully restore the building, supported by a £1 million grant from Invest Northern Ireland. Visitors coming to marvel at the estate can appreciate its unique transition from a simple farmhouse to a historic, tower-adorned fortress set in County Armagh.
