Why Lerum
Lerum is a Swedish locality located in Västra Götaland County, serving as the administrative seat of Lerum Municipality. Situated as a suburb of Gothenburg, the town functions as an accessible settlement within the regional transit network via its dedicated station on the Gothenburg commuter rail system.
The natural geography of the municipality is defined by the Säveån River, which flows directly through the area. A five-kilometer stretch of this waterway is protected within the Säveåns Naturreservat. This nature reserve features varied wildlife, scenic natural landscapes, and historical bridges that date to the eighteenth century.
The town maintains a range of local infrastructure, including educational facilities such as Lerums gymnasium, Torpskolan, Rydsbergsskolan, Aspenässkolan, Knappekullaskolan, Almekärrsskolan, and Hulanskolan. Lerum also hosts several athletic organizations, including Lerums BK, Lerums IS, FBC Lerum, Lerums Landhockey, and Lerum Friidrott. Internationally, the municipality maintains formal sister city relationships with Aalborg in Denmark and Baldone in Latvia.
