Located at 1855 Ansel Road in Cleveland, Ohio, the Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center is a 1,200-seat historic arts and religious venue on the Case Western Reserve University campus. Sited at Silver Park on the border of University Circle and Hough, this impressive 1924 structure—originally known as The Temple—was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Architect Charles R.
Greco designed the heptagonal building using a blend of Byzantine Revival and Romanesque Revival styles, crafted from Indiana limestone and marble. When you visit, you will see a striking yellow-tiled 90-foot dome flanked by two smaller entrance domes, three notable stained-glass windows by Arthur Szyk depicting Gideon, Samson, and Judah Maccabee, and a historic W. W.
Kimball pipe organ. Following a partnership between Case Western Reserve University and The Temple-Tifereth Israel, the venue underwent extensive renovations completed in 2015 and 2021. Today, it serves as the main performance venue for the university's music department, hosts campus lectures, dance, and theater events, and houses one of three gallery locations for the Temple Museum of Religious Art, while remaining a sacred space for annual congregational worship.
