Located at the end of Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road in central Karachi's Jamshed Quarters locality, Mazar-e-Quaid (also known as the Jinnah Mausoleum or National Mausoleum) is an iconic symbol of the city and the final resting place of Pakistan's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Completed in 1971 and designed by architect Yahya Merchant, this striking white marble monument combines a traditional style with minor modernist influences. You will find it set upon an elevated platform within a 53-hectare neo-Mughal garden.

When you approach the structure, you can admire its curved arches, copper grills, and a cool inner sanctum reflecting the green light of a four-tiered crystal chandelier given by the People's Republic of China. Within the complex, you can view the graves of prominent leaders, including Fatima Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan, Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar, and Nurul Amin. Crafted from Italian white marble, these box-type sarcophagi rest on a triple base.

Approached via terraced avenues and fifteen successive fountains, this grand site offers an inspiring glimpse into national history, whether viewed by day or under night spotlights.
