Located in Downtown Las Vegas on Stewart Avenue, two blocks north of Fremont Street, the Mob Museum—officially the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement—offers an insightful look into the nation's contentious history of Mob activity and police counteractions. Housed in a restored 1933 former post office and courthouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this 501(c)3 non-profit museum was creatively directed by Dennis Barrie. Your self-guided tour begins on the third floor and winds down, taking you through the historical context of Prohibition, early Las Vegas casinos, and notable figures like Al Capone, Eliot Ness, J.

Edgar Hoover, and Howard Hughes. You will see artifacts including the brick wall from the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, explore casino revenue skimming operations, and view crime victim photography in the graphic "Mob's Greatest Hits" gallery.

The centerpiece of the experience is the second-floor courtroom, which hosted a Kefauver Committee hearing in 1950. Furthermore, you can check out the Organized Crime Today exhibit, browse actor photos on the Mob pop-culture wall, visit the first-floor gift shop, or step into The Underground basement speakeasy and distillery to learn about bootlegging and sample house-distilled 100-proof moonshine.
