Why O’Fallon
O'Fallon is a city situated in St. Charles County, Missouri, within the St. Louis metropolitan area. Positioned along Interstates 64 and 70 between Lake St. Louis and St. Peters, the municipality spans approximately 29 square miles. It features a humid subtropical climate marked by hot, humid summers and moderately cold winters.
The city was founded in 1856 by Nicholas Krekel and named by his brother, Judge Arnold Krekel, after John O'Fallon, who served as president of the North Missouri Railroad. A post office was established shortly after in 1859. Historic local architecture includes the St. Mary's Institute of O'Fallon, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
Recreational amenities are spread across several municipal parks. Fort Zumwalt Park offers a fishing lake, playgrounds, a disc golf course, and the historic site of Fort Zumwalt itself. Civic Park features an amphitheater, a bandstand, and the Alligator's Creek Aquatic Center. Larger athletic venues include the 95-acre O'Fallon Sports Park—which houses soccer fields, concessions, playgrounds, and the Renaud Spirit Center—and the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex for baseball and softball. Additional outdoor options include Dames Park, Knaust Park, and Westhoff Park, which provides courts for basketball, tennis, handball, and sand volleyball, as well as horseshoe pits and a skate park.
Local sports matches are hosted at CarShield Field, located near downtown along Tom Ginnever and T.R. Hughes Boulevards. The stadium serves as the home field for the O'Fallon Hoots and the CarShield Collegiate League. Commercial and retail services in the area include venues such as The Shops at Laura Hills along Highway K.
