Why Shangluo
Shangluo is a prefecture-level municipal territory positioned in the southeastern section of Shaanxi Province, China. Situated within the province's Shannan region, the area borders Henan Province to its northeast and Hubei Province toward its southeast. It serves as a geographic entry point into the eastern stretches of the Qinling Mountain range.
Set within a mountainous topography, Shangluo experiences a humid subtropical climate influenced by seasonal monsoon patterns. The region encounters cold, dry conditions during the winter months and high humidity during the summer season. Owing to its elevated terrain, the local temperatures remain somewhat more temperate than those found in Xi'an and the nearby Wei River valley located just to the north.
The municipal climate produces an annual mean temperature around 12.8 °C (55.0 °F). Monthly averages shift from a low of 0.5 °C (32.9 °F) in January to a peak of 24.3 °C (75.7 °F) in July. The area receives roughly 685.2 millimeters (27.0 inches) of rain each year, with approximately 60 percent of this total falling between the months of June and September. The region benefits from a 200-day frost-free span alongside nearly 2,000 hours of bright sunshine throughout the year.
Travelers accessing the territory can travel via China National Highway 312, which serves as a primary overland transportation link through the municipality. On an international level, Shangluo maintains municipal friendship ties with Emmen in the Netherlands as well as Jinan County in South Korea.
