Located in the Mueang Chiang Mai District of northern Thailand, the Highland People Discovery Museum—formerly known as the Tribal Museum—is an ethnographic museum dedicated to showcasing the daily life, history, and culture of Thailand's minority hill tribes. Inside, you will discover an extensive resource center featuring detailed displays of tribal clothes, jewellery, and traditional artefacts alongside an informative video presentation. The museum features a useful wall chart detailing agricultural activities, ceremonies, and monthly festivals, as well as photographs, models of village houses, and a display of hill tribe instruments paired with taped music.

Outdoors, you can wander through a large garden showcasing reconstructed tribal huts in an attractive waterside setting overlooking a tree-lined lake. Set right behind the artfully landscaped Ratchamangkla Park, the museum provides a very pretty and peaceful environment to explore the heritage of the Akha, Karen, Khamu, Lahu, Lua, Lisu, Hmong, Mien, and Thin peoples.
