Why Truist Park
Truist Park is a major league baseball stadium situated in the Cumberland community of Cobb County, Georgia, approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. Located near the intersection of Interstate 75 and Interstate 285, the stadium serves as the home venue for Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves. The facility rests on a 15-acre footprint within a larger 60-acre property.
Plans for the facility were announced in late 2013 after the team decided to relocate from Turner Field, seeking lower long-term maintenance costs, improved parking, and a venue central to their fan base. Construction officially broke ground in September 2014, requiring the relocation of three underground natural gas pipelines before structural work began. Originally opened in 2017 as SunTrust Park, the venue was renamed Truist Park in 2020 following a corporate bank merger. The project was developed through a public-private partnership between Cobb County and the baseball franchise.
The stadium features a distinct architectural design crafted by the firm Populous. Built into a sloped, rocky landscape, the ballpark utilizes a vertical seating arrangement that places spectators closer to the field than traditional designs. Its exterior prominently features Southeastern-style brickwork and pre-cast stone, complemented by architectural elements like canopies, trellises, and porches designed to provide shade. A massive 108,000-square-foot metal canopy covers roughly 60 percent of the seating bowl, which is also outfitted with LED lighting accents. Adjoining the stadium is The Battery Atlanta, a mixed-use entertainment district established alongside the ballpark that offers a selection of dining, shopping, work, and residential spaces.
Visitors to Truist Park can attend professional baseball games and major sporting events, with the venue featuring modern video boards and elevated seating views. Beyond game-day activities, guests can explore the surrounding Battery Atlanta district.
Transit options include an extensive parking infrastructure comprising over 11,000 organization-managed spaces on game days, alongside access to roughly 30,000 total parking spots within a two-mile radius. Shuttle options feature a private shuttle service connecting to key regional points of interest, a local circulator bus system that bridges the distance to the nearest train station, and a dedicated pedestrian bridge spanning Interstate 285 to link the stadium complex with the Cobb Galleria.
