Woodruff Park 🇺🇸

Located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, Georgia, Woodruff Park offers a charming 6-acre green space nestled north of Edgewood Avenue, right between Peachtree Street NE and Park Place NE. Originally created when Robert W. Woodruff anonymously purchased the land and donated it to the city, this historic site officially opened in 1973 as Central City Park before being renamed in his honor in 1985.

As you explore the grounds, you will discover a variety of features including a fountain, a performance pavilion, and several notable monuments. Among its most compelling sights is the International Peace Fountain, constructed in 1995 during the lead-up to the Centennial Olympic Games. You will also want to view the remarkable bronze sculpture, Atlanta from the Ashes (The Phoenix).

Designed by James Seigler, sculpted by Gamba Quirino, and fabricated by Feruccia Vezzoni, this monument depicts a woman releasing a phoenix to symbolize Atlanta's historic rise after being burned during the Civil War. First placed near Rich's Department Store in 1969, it was restored and moved to the park in 1995. Known as a frequent gathering place for rallies and demonstrations, Woodruff Park is a rich, reflective downtown stop.
