Zarafshan Bridge 🇺🇿

Located 7 to 8 kilometers northeast of Samarkand on the left bank of the Zarafshan River, the Zarafshan Bridge is an extraordinary 16th-century architectural monument you should add to your Uzbekistan itinerary. Built in 1502 by the order of Muhammad Shaybani, this massive brick structure originally spanned 200 meters across seven arches. It played a vital role in regional history by serving as a water divider that created the Akdarya and Karadarya branches, regulating water flow and facilitating even irrigation for the lands surrounding Samarkand.
