By its seventy-fifth year, the zoo had accumulated 2,200 specimens across 300 species. As a pioneer in conservation, Zoo Zurich is uniquely celebrated as the first and only European institution to successfully breed Galápagos tortoises, having sent offspring to over two dozen zoos worldwide.
