This Privacy Policy explains how pureTRAVEL.TV (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use puretravel.tv. Questions: hello@puretravel.tv.
Information we collect
- Usage & analytics: we use Google Analytics (GA4) and standard server logs to understand traffic (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser, referrer). This may involve cookies or similar identifiers.
- Account data (members): if you create a member account (e.g. to follow or upvote destinations), we store your username, email address and activity related to those features.
- Maps: destination pages embed interactive maps served by MapTiler. When a map loads, your IP address and device/browser information are processed by MapTiler to deliver the map tiles, under their own privacy policy.
- Weather & location data: some destination pages show current weather and place information from third-party data providers. We request this by place name or coordinates; we do not send your personal data to obtain it.
- Advertising: once advertising is enabled, ad partners (e.g. Google) may set cookies to serve and measure ads. Personalized advertising is only used where permitted and, for EU/UK visitors, subject to your consent.
How we use information
To operate and secure the site, understand and improve usage, provide member features, and (later) display advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests (running and improving a free, ad-supported service), your consent (analytics/advertising cookies where required), and contract (member accounts).
Cookies & consent
We use essential cookies for basic functionality and, subject to applicable consent rules, analytics and (later) advertising cookies. EU/UK visitors are asked for consent before non-essential cookies are set; you can withdraw consent at any time.
Third parties
We share limited data with service providers who help us run the site, including Google (Analytics and, later, advertising), our maps provider (MapTiler), weather and place-data providers, our CDN and security providers (including Cloudflare and BunnyCDN) and our hosting provider. These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. EU/UK residents have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” (we do not sell personal information). Data retention & security
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and we apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards.
Children
The site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Effective” date above.
Editorial standards & sources
pureTRAVEL.TV is an independent travel index of destinations, cities, regions, attractions and points of interest. Entries are compiled from publicly available information — encyclopedic references (such as Wikipedia and Wikidata), official tourism and destination sources, public geographic data and public records. We aim for accurate, neutral, up-to-date information and omit anything we cannot reasonably support. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the destinations, businesses or attractions listed.
Where a destination page shows a photo, we use freely licensed images (e.g. from Wikimedia Commons) with attribution to the author and license. We do not host or claim ownership of third-party copyrighted images. Spotted an inaccuracy? Email hello@puretravel.tv with the page URL and the correction.
Removal, correction & copyright
If you represent a destination, business or attraction featured on pureTRAVEL.TV, or believe a listing contains inaccurate information, email hello@puretravel.tv with the full URL of the page, whether you want a correction or removal, and a brief note of the change requested. We review verified requests and aim to respond within a few business days.
Copyright / DMCA: if you believe content here infringes your copyright, send a written notice to hello@puretravel.tv. A valid notice must identify the copyrighted work and the URL of the allegedly infringing material, include your contact details and signature, a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act. We remove or disable material subject to a valid notice and terminate repeat infringers where appropriate.
