You will find Saint Patrick's Cathedral located near the Empress Market in the Saddar locality of central Karachi. As the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi, this impressive Gothic Revival sanctuary was consecrated in 1881 and can accommodate 1,500 worshipers. It was declared a protected monument in 2003 under the Sindh Cultural Heritage Protection Act due to its outstanding architectural beauty.

Designed by Father Karl Wagner, SJ, and built under the supervision of lay brothers George Kluver, SJ and Herman Lau, SJ, the cathedral offers a rich historic experience. Before entering, you will see the striking marble Monument to Christ the King on the cathedral grounds, constructed between 1926 and 1931 to commemorate the Jesuit mission in Sindh. While the cathedral's exterior is striking yet unornamented, money and art were lavished on its interior.

As you walk inside, you will behold a spacious chancel, impressive oil paintings, and beautiful stained-glass windows created by Franz Mayer of Munich, Germany. These vibrant windows depict detailed religious scenes including the Annunciation, Nativity, Baptism of Jesus, Crucifixion, and Resurrection. Whether you are appreciating its architectural history or peaceful atmosphere, this historic sanctuary stands as a remarkable landmark in Karachi.
