Welcome to Karachi Zoo, also known as the Karachi Zoological and Botanical Gardens or Gandhi Garden, located in Garden East, Karachi, Pakistan. Established in 1899, it stands as the largest zoo in Pakistan and the country's second oldest. Visiting this historic destination allows you to explore a variety of unique animal exhibits, historical attractions, and scenic gardens.
During your visit, you can explore the famous Elephant House, home to African bush elephants like Madhubala. Head to the Natural History Museum, remodelled in 1992, where you will find stuffed animals, skins, antlers, horns, and feathers used for research and educational purposes. You can also tour the Reptile House, which features 13 species of snakes and lizards alongside hatchlings of crocodilians and testudines, or visit the Karachi Municipal Aquarium, built in 1953, showcasing around 300 fishes across 28 tanks.
Beyond aquatic and reptile life, you can see white lions, an Asian black bear, and a Syrian brown bear. Do not miss the Mughal Garden, established in 1970, where you can relax near Mughal-style fountains and admire vibrant rose displays and seasonal plants, or check out the popular Mumtaz Begum show at Mumtaz Mahal.
