If you are exploring Karachi, Pakistan, make sure to visit Holy Trinity Cathedral, a historic sanctuary situated on Fatima Jinnah Road near Zainab Market. Serving as the seat of the Church of Pakistan's Diocese of Karachi, this former garrison church for the British military was established in 1844 and completed in 1855, making it one of the very first major churches constructed in the region. As you step onto the grounds, you will marvel at its unique Romanesque layout, built from buff-colored Gizri stone, which beautifully sets it apart from nearby buildings.

Originally designed by Captain John Hill of the Bombay Engineers to accommodate 800 worshipers, the cathedral features a 115-foot nave. You can learn about its fascinating architectural evolution, including how its tower originally stood at 150 feet with beacons to guide ships in Karachi Harbour before being reduced to 115 feet in 1904. You will also discover how the building served as a signaling station during World War I and received a barrel vaulted roof in 1970.

Visit to appreciate this distinct stone structure and honor the history of British servicemen memorialized inside.
