Huaycán de Pariachi 🇵🇪

Located in the Ate District of Lima south of the Rímac River, Huaycán de Pariachi invites you to step into an ancient administrative center of the middle Rímac Valley. Once inhabited by the Ichma culture and later assimilated by the Inca Empire, this intriguing archaeological site spans about 60 hectares across three distinct sectors. As you visit, you will primarily explore Sector 1, home to the site's main highlight: the restored Palacio.

Here, you can admire pre-Hispanic construction techniques combining rammed earth with stone and mud walls. Walk through elite residential spaces, wide courtyards, open areas with benches, ramps, and wall niches. You will also see deep, circular collqas—some shaped like bottles—that ancient civilizations used to store food.

Across from the main entrance in Sector 2, you can observe a segment of an elevated walled road that once belonged to the famous Qhapaq Ñan network, connecting Pariacha to other key valley settlements and the main trail to Pachacamac. Though parts of the site remain unexcavated or in poor condition, exploring Huaycán de Pariachi offers you a fascinating look into Peru's vibrant Ychma and Inca heritage right on the outskirts of Lima.
