Tianyi Pavilion Museum

Welcome to the Tianyi Pavilion Museum (Tianyi Ge Museum), a National First-Grade Museum located in Haishu District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Centered around the Ming Dynasty Library Building, this 34,000-square-meter thematic museum celebrates book collection culture alongside research, protection, and tourism. Divided into a book collection cultural area, garden leisure area, and exhibition area, it houses nearly 300,000 ancient book volumes—including over 80,000 rare books such as local chronicles and Dengkelu—plus ceramics, bronzes, jades, calligraphy, paintings, and inscriptions.

When you visit, you will explore a rich landscape featuring the core Baoshu Building (Tianyi Library), Fan's residential area, Zunjing Pavilion, and the Mingzhou Stele Forest with steles spanning from the Song to Qing dynasties. Discover the ornate Qin Clan Ancestral Hall, a masterpiece of Ningbo architecture showcasing intricate wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, gilding, and "kaozuo" craftsmanship. Don't miss the Mahjong Origins Exhibition Hall inside the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, the Qianjin Studio displaying ancient Han and Jin dynasty bricks, the memorial Bai’e Pavilion with its detailed Ming Dynasty carvings, and the Shuibei Pavilion housing the Chinese Local Gazetteer Archives.
