The collection centers around two main artistic icons: Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso.

In fact, the Klee holdings represent the largest collection of his work in private hands outside of the artist's own family. As you explore the museum's distinct levels, you will encounter Picasso's works displayed on the ground floor, Klee's vast output in the basement, and an array of other legendary modern artists on the first floor. Among these masters, you can admire creations by Claude Monet, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Vassily Kandinsky, and Paul Cézanne.

Housed within a former Swiss National Bank neoclassical building erected in 1923–1924, the museum also preserves the original bank conference room for you to view. Opened in March 2002, the Rosengart Collection offers a uniquely rich visual journey through modern art history right in the heart of Lucerne.
