Step into Baghdad's past at the Baghdadi Museum, a local history landmark established in 1970 along the Al-Rusafa district near the River Tigris. Housed inside a charming structure dating back to 1869, this museum offers you a vivid glimpse into the rich social heritage, traditional folklore, and everyday street life of ancient Baghdadis. Though it suffered damage and looting during the 2003 Iraq War, it officially reopened its doors in August 2008 to preserve these timeless cultural memories for future generations.

As you walk through the exhibits, you will discover 385 life-size statue models arranged across 77 distinct scenes. Enhanced with authentic artistic materials, accessories, and household tools, these realistic sets depict historic trades, folk crafts, and family rituals. You can admire immersive displays like the 'Zaffa' wedding ceremony filled with colorful glazed outfits, music, and dance, or quiet moments like afternoon tea gatherings.

Witness scenes showcasing traditional Maqam singers, musicians, and family dynamics, such as the character 'Oum Ibrahim' talking with her son. Preserving the simplicity and cohesion of old Baghdadi life, the museum’s evocative sets feel wonderfully reminiscent of scenes straight from the classic One Thousand and One Nights.
