Located in the historic Emirsultan quarter of Bursa, Turkey, the Emir Sultan Mosque offers a fascinating glimpse into Ottoman architecture and spiritual heritage. Originally established in the early 15th century around the tomb of Emir Sultan—a revered dervish, scholar from Bukhara, and son-in-law to Sultan Bayezid I—the complex has a rich history of resilience. After suffering severe damage in earthquakes in 1766 and 1855, the site was repeatedly rebuilt, with the current structure completed in 1868 under Sultan Abdülaziz in a pure Ottoman Baroque style.

When you visit this remarkable külliye, you will step into a long courtyard featuring a large şadırvan at its entrance. A distinctive wooden arcade with pointed arches wraps around the courtyard, creating elegant portal entries topped with tall domes. To the south, you can explore the tall single-unit masonry prayer hall framed by two northern minarets, as well as the domed mausoleum containing the tombs of Emir Sultan and his family.

Surrounding the site, you will discover historic fountains dating back to 1743, a hamam built by Hundi Fatma Hatun, and an Ottoman cemetery flowing downhill from the complex.
