Step into Russian history at the Grand Kremlin Palace, located on Borovitsky Hill within the Moscow Kremlin. Built between 1837 and 1849 under architect Konstantin Thon, this grand complex originally served as the 19th-century Moscow residence for Russian tsars, designed to showcase the power of Russian autocracy. Today, it functions as the official working residence of the president of Russia and houses an extraordinary museum complex.
While the building appears to be three storeys from its exterior, it actually features two tiers with high ceilings and two sets of window rows framing an expansive area of over 25,000 square metres. As you tour the interior, you will explore lavish ceremonial halls named after Imperial orders, including the massive Georgievsky Hall with its military honours, the dome-lit Vladimirsky Hall, and the restored Andreyevsky Hall where presidential inaugurations are held. The complex also integrates historic architecture, encompassing over 700 rooms, the Terem Palace, and nine churches dating back to the 14th century.
It offers an unprecedented look at Russian state ceremonies, grand architecture, and centuries of regal heritage.
