Looking out over Armenia's capital city from its prominent location in Victory Park, the Mother Armenia statue is a powerful female personification of the nation. Rising to an overall height of 51 meters (including its 22-meter hammered copper statue and basalt pedestal), this monumental landmark stands as a guardian over Yerevan, symbolizing peace through strength. As you visit, you will encounter a site rich with history: the original monument featuring Joseph Stalin was unveiled in 1950, but it was replaced in 1967 by the current statue designed by Ara Harutyunyan, who famously modeled it after a 17-year-old girl named Genya Muradian.

The unique pedestal beneath your feet was designed by architect Rafayel Israyelian to resemble a classic three-nave Armenian church, featuring a light interior inspired by St. Hripsime Church. Inside the pedestal, you can explore the Mother Armenia Military Museum of the Ministry of Defense.

Here, you will see personal belongings, weapons, portraits, and documents detailing World War II and the 1988–1994 Nagorno-Karabakh War, including the historical map used to plan the Battle of Shushi campaign. It is a deeply meaningful stop that recalls the strength of Armenia's historic female figures and family elders.
