Located at No. 112 Minde Road in Nanchang, the provincial capital of Jiangxi, Nanchang Zhidao Church—also known as Zhidao Tang—is a key historical site and one of the city's main Christian churches. First built in 1933 by Wesleyan Methodist Church missionaries, it holds a prominent place in local history as the mother church of the Jiangxi Provincial Bible School.
The original site was seized by a factory in 1958 and all city churches were closed during the Cultural Revolution, but Zhidao Church proudly became the first to resume worship services in Nanchang on Christmas Day in 1982. Following major renovations in 2006 to restore its original grandeur, the church stands as a fascinating architectural gem. When you visit, you will see a unique blend of Western style and Chinese palace aesthetics, featuring distinctive flying eaves, arched corners, and classic red tiled roofs.
Surrounded by scenic lakes in the front and back and a park to its right, this peaceful landmark covers 1,500 square meters and offers a deep look into the resilience and history of Christianity in the region.
