Palace of Culture and Science 🇵🇱

Standing 237 meters tall in central Warsaw, the Palace of Culture and Science is Poland's second-tallest building and a striking historical landmark. Designed by Soviet architect Lev Rudnev and completed in 1955 as a gift from the Soviet Union, this controversial tower combines American art deco high-rise design, Stalinist architecture, and Polish Renaissance details inspired by Kraków and Zamość.

Surrounding the exterior, you will spot ornate sculptures celebrating culture and science, including prominent statues of astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus and poet Adam Mickiewicz flanking the main entrance. Inside, you can explore a vast complex housing four theatres, two museums, a multi-screen cinema, an 8th-floor university, and a massive 3,000-seat auditorium known as Congress Hall.

Head up to the 30th floor to step onto the famous observation deck, located at a height of 114 meters, where you can take in panoramic views of the entire city. Depending on when you look up at night, you might also see the building illuminated in vibrant LED colors celebrating holidays or displaying messages of political solidarity.
