Located in Kita-ku, Sapporo, the Sapporo Masjid stands as Hokkaido's very first mosque. Originally established in 1993 inside a residential building, it relocated to a larger four-story structure in November 2023 following a ¥250 million renovation funded by local and international donations. Run by the Hokkaido Islamic Society, this welcoming place of worship serves a growing Muslim population while actively fostering cultural connections across the region.

When you visit, you will see a thoughtfully designed four-story facility equipped with dedicated wudu (ritual washing) areas on the first and fourth floors, alongside separate prayer rooms for men and women. Religious services are conducted in multiple languages, including English, Arabic, and Bengali. Beyond daily worship, the mosque serves as a vibrant community center.

Depending on the time of your visit, you might experience educational seminars held for local university students or community outreach events. Non-Muslim visitors are warmly welcomed to join open celebrations held during holy months like Ramadan and festive holiday parties for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. It offers a unique glimpse into the rich, diverse cultural fabric of modern Hokkaido.
