Welcome to Ljubljana Zoo, Slovenia's national zoo, located in the vibrant city of Ljubljana. Spanning 19.6 hectares (48 acres), this year-round attraction offers you a chance to explore a diverse range of wildlife in a charming European setting. First established by the city board in March 1949, the zoo moved to its present site in 1951 and underwent a major renovation plan to modernize its habitats.

As you wander through the grounds, you will encounter 500 individual animals representing 119 different species (excluding insects). Among the captivating residents to see are lively saimiri monkeys, alpacas, red pandas, and raccoons. You can also visit impressive avian additions like a pair of Siberian cranes and a vibrant flock of 40 greater flamingos.

Marine lovers will enjoy observing the zoo's three California sea lions, housed in a dedicated enclosure built in 2009. Over the years, the zoo has continuously refreshed its animal family, transforming former habitats—such as redesigning the old Siberian tiger space to welcome the zoo's very first pair of cheetahs from Sweden, alongside lynxes and other remarkable species.
