Located within the Prime Minister's Office complex on Jalan Kumbang Pasang in Kampong Melabau, Bandar Seri Begawan, the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque opened in 2012 as a remarkable architectural jewel. You should visit to admire a unique design crafted by Egyptian architect Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil, who blended Moorish, Andalusian Maghrebi, and Middle Eastern influences with inspiration from Isfahan and Hassan Fathy.
Spanning 2,100 square metres with space for 700 worshippers, the structure features vibrant blue domes, an Italian mosaic dome, low domes, stacked spherical arches for ventilation, and tall minarets. As you explore, you will see Brunei's first retractable roof and a tranquil central sahn decorated with intricate Moroccan hand-carved mosaics, Arabic calligraphy, water elements, and a marble fountain fitted with Moroccan brass lamps.
Inside the prayer hall, you can observe the Middle Eastern-style mimbar alongside beautiful decorative details. Opened during a historic Friday prayer attended by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, this site seamlessly combines traditional craftsmanship with modern amenities, including a multipurpose hall, separate restrooms and ablution facilities for men and women, an imam's office, and a parking lot accommodating roughly 130 vehicles.
