Located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, near the State Museum and the Museum of Man, the Tribal Museum (or Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum) offers an immersive journey into the living aspects of indigenous knowledge, aesthetics, and tribal life. Designed by Revathi Kamath and opened in 2013, you will find six vibrant thematic galleries highlighting the traditional art, craft, and culture of region-specific tribes like the Gonds, Bhils, Bharias, Sahariya, Korku, Kol, and Baiga. Explore Jeevan Shaili to see life-sized traditional houses built from mud, bamboo, and hay, showcasing how communities build their lives around natural resources.

Walk through Sanskritik Vaividhya to learn about weddings and festivals, or admire artistic expressions in the Kalabodh section. You can discover sacred myths in Devlok, admire regional creations in the Chhattisgarh gallery, and let younger visitors explore traditional games in the Rakku children’s gallery. The museum also features an open amphitheatre that regularly hosts folk dances, musical performances, and plays, alongside an in-house magazine called Choumasa.
