When exploring Malé in the Kaafu Atoll of the Maldives, you can discover the historical Bihuroazu Kamanaa Mosque, also known as Bihuroazu Kamanaa Miskiy. Originally built by Bihuroazu Fashan akalo, this Sunni Islam worship space derives its unique name from a Persian word meaning 'prosperous.' Recognized as one of the oldest mosques in the capital, its rich origins predate the 16th-century reign of Sultan as-Sultan al-Ghaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu al-Auza. Directly adjacent to the mosque, you will see the significant mausoleum that serves as the resting place for Sultan Thakurufaanu and his younger brother, Al-Ghaazee Hassan Rannabandeyri Kilefaanu. Despite facing past political controversy and a government proposal for demolition to construct a 12-storey building, the site remains an enduring symbol of local heritage.
